Get ready for an afternoon of music, dancing, food, culture, and a little friendly competition at Salsa y Sabor! Bring your lawn chair or picnic blanket, grab your friends, and come experience the flavors and sounds of Latin culture right here in the community. Dance along to live salsa music, learn a few new moves, sample salsas from some of Long Beach’s favorite Hispanic restaurants, and cast your vote for the one you think deserves bragging rights. Perfect. From 1:30pm-2pm, Velveth & Manny will lead a beginner-friendly dance lesson to get you moving. No partner or previous experience required. Then stick around for the live music and put those new moves to work! Things are about to get spicy. 🌶️ MC Luis Navarro , Chef/ Owner of Lola's Mexican Cuisine, will host Hispanic restaurants from across Long Beach, bringing their best salsas to compete for bragging rights. Taste your way through the competition, then vote for your favorite in the People’s Choice Award! A panel of local judges will also select winners in additional categories: Ever wonder what makes a salsa a salsa? Take a quick stroll through our mobile exhibit to learn a little about the history of salsa, different types and flavors found throughout Latin countries, and some of the ingredients that make each one unique. You can also explore Rancho Los Cerritos’ current exhibit, “Seeds of Resilience: Barrio Americano.” Food and drinks will be available for purchase throughout the event, so come ready to eat, sip, dance, and celebrate. Lola's Mexican Cuisine will sell food and cocktails. Dutch's Brewhouse will sell craft beer.
