an evening of performances featuring just intonation and microtonality within a solo context amidst an expanding field brings together four artists in an evening of performances featuring just intonation and microtonality within a solo context. mattie barbier, Judith Berkson, Elif Dinçer and Jakob Heinemann each maintain an active solo project, traversing a unique and beautiful harmonic terrain of their own devising. Jakob Heinemann will perform a set of solo pieces centering rational frequency relationships on the double bass. Elif Dinçer presents material from her recent release, Blue House, where she improvised short songs in scales derived from just intonation using colors and poetic imagery as jumping off points to create melodies. Mattie Barbier presents their work within experimental intonation, latent acoustic worlds, and the physical processes of low brass instruments. Judith Berkson ’s work explores tuning as it relates to memory and perception.
