Daffodil Planting Volunteer Day

Join CORE and Niles Rotary to help plant daffodils in the CORE Test Orchard Join us on the morning of Halloween for our big Daffodil Plantout. We'll be planting daffodil bulbs at the CORE Test Orchard with Niles Rotary Club. Don't miss our last weekend volunteer day of 2026! Remember to wear close toed shoes and to bring a water bottle, hat and other necessities like sunscreen. Optional: Our volunteers often bring food and snacks to share with each other and have lunch at the orchard. CORE is a branch of Tri-City Ecology Center dedicated to restoring the Roeding Test Orchard in California Nursery Historical Park in Niles, Fremont. We are located inside California Nursery Historical Park at this exact location on Google Maps. There are 2 free parking lots in the park. Restrooms and water fountains are on site. Our goal is to expand the orchard to over 300 fruit trees, of local, historical varieties, and add a native plant hedgerow perimeter. CORE plants varieties of apples, plums, pears, and more that were developed in California and are no longer sold commercially. Planting older varieties suited to our climate preserves genetic diversity within fruit trees and the unique taste of the fruit!
