Día de los Muertos Local Band Showcase

Join us as we celebrate Día de los Muertos with four heavy, upcoming Bay Area bands guaranteed to wake the dead! Ominess is a Gothic Doom Metal band hailing from The Bay Area. Their music is dark and foreboding. Fans of Sludge and Doom Metal will find solace in the slow lethargic tempos and heavily distorted guitars while lead singer Destiny Espinoza's vocals cut like a knife, transitioning from clean to guttural growling. What sets them apart from the doom scene bands is that their lyrics tackle themes of feminist rage and queer liberation, with a healthy dose of bruja spirituality. 55Castles is an Oakland based Punk-fueled Neo-Goth duo. Their music Combines Gothic Post-Punk, EBM, Industrial, and old cold dark wave, with influences of death rock, electronica, and grime. In Shame is a sludge/doom metal band from Oakland. Their music is filthy, suffocating and heavy as hell -- bleak riffs, crushing weight and a raw, corroded atmosphere from start to finish. The Gallery is a lesbian fronted band that features a variety of queer lyrics and an exploration of emotions. Their music is Post-Punk Alternative Rock thats serves up a smorgasbord of infectious, melodic and down-trodden grooves.
