Peter Stampfel & the Atomic Meta-Pagans & Will Sprott!

Peter Stampfel & the Atomic Meta-Pagans (Holy Modal Rounders, The Fugs) first and only Bay Area show in 26 years! Will Sprott opens! Music critic Robert Christgau declared that "next to Bob Dylan, Peter Stampfel is the closest thing to a genius" to emerge from the New York folk revival of the 1960s. Pioneer of psychedelic folk and freak folk, his voice and fiddle with the Holy Modal Rounders is like nothing else ever recorded. The duo mixed the great American songbook with deep musical passion, perfectly imperfect musicianship and amphetamine to create a whole new genre of American music that went on to inspire Bob Dylan, Neutral Milk Hotel and so many folk artists around the globe. Will Sprott is super busy as long time member of Shannon & the Clams but rarely we get the gift of hearing him alone, performing songs from his incredible solo records, sometimes an oldie from his formative days in The Mumlers, maybe even a Michael Hurley tune!
