Learn identification, survey techniques, and conservation through classroom instruction and hands-on field experience. Registration opens Tuesday, August 18 at 9:00 a.m. Space is limited and this workshop typically fills quickly. Tickets available online only. Overview This workshop is designed to provide practical knowledge on the life history, ecology, and conservation of the Foothill Yellow-legged Frog (FYLF). The species is listed as threatened or endangered under state and federal Endangered Species Acts throughout much of its range. The Friday morning lecture will cover FYLF identification at all life stages, distinguishing features from similar amphibians, range and distribution, habitat needs, behavior, survey techniques, conservation concerns, and relevant regulations. The accompanying field trip to a nearby creek—a known FYLF site—will demonstrate aquatic habitat types and survey techniques. Participants are responsible for their own transportation; carpooling is encouraged. Each attendee should bring appropriate field equipment, including hiking boots that can get wet, rubber boots, or other footwear suitable for creek access and uneven terrain.
