Research Librarian Office Hours: Resources and Strategies for Latin America and the Caribbean

Event Description Are you a graduate student researching Latin America? Liladhar Pendse, UC Berkeley’s Librarian for the Caribbean, Latin American and Latinx Studies Collections, will be holding office hours at CLACS throughout Fall 2026. Dr. Pendse will answer questions and share practical strategies for finding books, articles, archival materials, primary sources, and other resources for your research on Latin America. We’ll explore how to make the most of Berkeley’s enormous library collections and databases — including search strategies that can help you move beyond the first page of results and uncover resources you might otherwise miss. Bring your research questions! This is an opportunity for personalized advice tailored to the questions and topics you are pursuing. Dr. Pendse will hold office hours at CLACS every two weeks on Thursdays, 11am-1pm. Speaker Dr. Liladhar Pendse is UC Berkeley’s Librarian for the Caribbean, Latin American and Latinx Studies Collections, as well as the Librarian for Slavic, East European, and Central Asian Studies Collections. He works to strengthen UC Berkeley’s holdings, support students and scholars conducting research across these regions, and help connect researchers with the library’s extensive print, digital, archival, and primary-source collections. Dr. Pendse holds an MA in Latin American Studies, an MLIS, and a Ph.D. in Information Studies from UCLA.
